I am a married mother of two, but I still dream of a Dirty Dancing-inspired…
I adore fall travel.
It’s one of my favorite times of the year. Fall travel means cooler temperatures, colorful foliage, favorite sweaters and long drives to soak in the perfect panoramic view. So it only makes sense that I have spent a lot of time thinking up things to do each fall. Here are some of my very best ideas:
3 River Cruises for Fall Foliage
Thinking of trying something new in your quest for perfect fall foliage? Try a cruise! Floating down a river gives you the freedom to relax as you meander along gorgeous waterways. A big benefit of these smaller ships is that they can reach destinations/ports that the mega cruise ships can’t, and they are much less crowded. While you may go to see the stunning fall colors, you’ll enjoy the rich history, culture and scenery along the way. [Full Article]
Fall in Love with Stowe, Vermont
There’s nothing quite as beautiful as autumn in Vermont. The fall season lights up Stowe’s best features with its covered bridges, church steeples and tree-lined roads playing a starring role against a blazing red, orange and yellow backdrop. You can feel the chill in the air when you wake up, yet be comfortable for a guided hike or bike ride in the afternoon. Keep an eye on peak foliage updates so you and your camera can enjoy the full show. [Full Article]
My Favorite Fall Drive: Hudson Valley, NY
My favorite fall drive has all the things I require to stay entertained. Dutchess County in the Hudson Valley of New York has some of the most beautiful land you’ll ever set your eyes on. Foliage consumes you as you dip through winding roads. Hilltops reveal a sweeping scene straight out of a painting from the Hudson River Valley School. It’s also known as horse country so you’ll see horses grazing on rolling pastures next to their immaculate barns. And then there are the homes that make you oooh and aaah as much as the fall colors. You can roll along enjoying the enchanting farmhouses with fishing ponds, federalist mansionettes and the turn of the century estates of those who once made a lot of money providing milk to NYC. Frank and Foliage
Autumn is a perfect time to get to know America’s greatest architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. Seeing the fall colors with its explosion of hues fills me with such a sense of renewal, energy and a feeling that anything is possible. When this type of mood hits, I like to take advantage of it. I can’t think of a better way than to absorb and be transformed by the maverick works of a man inspired by Nature. Frank Lloyd Wright created among other things, Prairie Style architecture. His rebellious style went on to set a fascinating course for American architecture. Thankfully, because of him, we’ve never looked back. When the earth changes so do we. [Full Article]
