10 Inspirational Travel Quotes
In many areas of the country it’s gray, snowy and freezing cold. For thousands of people the thought of getting out of the house can sometimes be excitement enough, much less going on vacation. Anyone who posts from a sunny place on their social media account is just asking for it.
For me the cold weather is always a good time to make some travel plans. Sometimes just having a vacation on the calendar lightens the mood and puts the zig back in your zag. In just a few more weeks the temperatures will start to warm, the days will continue to get longer and we’ll start to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And you’ll already have your tickets booked to a better someplace. Anyplace.
In the meantime, here are a few of my favorite inspirational travel quotes:
“Like all great travellers, I have seen more than I remember, and remember more than I have seen.” – Benjamin Disraeli
“Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.” – Dalai Lama
“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine
“Bizarre travel plans are dancing lessons from God.” – Kurt Vonnegut
“We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.” – Anonymous
“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
“We should come home from adventures, and perils, and discoveries every day with new experience and character” – Henry David Thoreau
“Our happiest moments as tourists always seem to come when we stumble upon one thing while in pursuit of something else.” – Lawrence Block
“No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.” – Lin Yutang
“To awaken quite alone in a strange town is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world.” – Freya Stark

Thanks Samantha! These travel sayings are great! With the world being a bit more scary these days, we sometimes have to push ourselves to get out there and travel. But it’s ALWAYS worth it, because the truth is that MOST people in the world are warm and wonderful, and you’ll never have the opportunity to meet them, staying at home! Also, the world is an awesomely beautiful place… we should see as much of it as we possibly can!
What great sayings. Another good one is ‘Take with you an open mind and a welcoming heart’. Don’t know who said it but they were spot on!
The Vonnegut quote is the best. Thanks for all the travel for all these years. Rage on!
My mantra is, “Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer! ” unknown
Love the quotations, esp. The Dalai Lama’s and St. Augustine’s
Love the quotes, think my favourite travel one is
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
When I was a kid, one of my uncles said to me, “There’s nothing like travel to broaden the mind.” Those words stuck with me.
The photo that accompanies the St. Augustine quote, where was it taken?
Your new website, Samantha, is so nice! I missed you on TV until I saw you selling your own designer traveling bags and accessories that sold so fast! I have always been a fan of yours! I guess you found the perfect medium where you can balance your family and career! Love, love, love you so much!
Another favorite quote:
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.
Mark Twain
Hello. This article was really remarkable, particularly because I was searching for thoughts on this
issue last Wednesday.
I love my Alexa and my echo I use in my house. I want to give one to my Mom because she’s losing her sight and I think and echo might help her. Can I loads the apps I think she could use like news , trivia using my phone apps then give it to her? My mom doesn’t have a phone because of her vision plus if the family adds the apps or the device she could use her echo. My Mom doesn’t have a computer either but her complex has wi-fi. Can someone help me help my 97 yr old mother. Thank you
