If you’re anything like me, you're hoping a Schitt’s Creek movie will come to be.…
Portland, ME is the perfect destination for dog lovers.
There are lots these days, but Portland is my favorite. With its historic old, town this is one of the best dog-loving cities in the United States. Cobblestone streets, historic buildings and trails along the seacoast. They love their dogs so much that most shops will allow you to bring your dog inside (but you always want to ask first).
Where to Go
What to Do
Hit the Beach!
Dog’s love Maine’s beaches which, combine nice long runs on the beach and jumping from rock to rock.
Shopping at Planet Dog
The manufacturer of made in the USA, eco-friendly dog toys has its company store here. They have dog get- togethers on the weekends so you can socialize, make friends and get advice on the best dog parks.
Where to stay
Inn by the Sea – Cape Elizabeth, ME
Just a half hour from Portland, you’ll find a luxury inn for the pampered dog. There are guided snowshoe tours. where shoes and thermos filled with hot chocolate are provided.
The INNcredible Pets package includes:
- Two nights in a single bedroom suite accommodation
- Inn by the Sea dog bowl
- Personalized LL Bean dog bed (!!!)
- One 30-minute in-room doggie massage
- Nightly selection from our gourmet pet menu
- Nightly pet turndown service including locally made pet treat
I know it sounds a little crazy to non-dog people, but trust me: when a doggie steals your heart, you’ll do all sorts of things to make sure they’re treated like royalty (though you might find yourself wishing it was you getting that 30-minute massage).
