Summer Camping: Say Yes to Yurts

If you’re like me, you love to go camping and enjoy the outdoors, but you may not be so good at pitching a tent.  Campers like us have to choose an alternative…like yurts, which have so many good qualities.  They are warm in winter, relatively cool in summer, and more spacious and stronger than tents.  They have grown in popularity, so you can find them at parks and more luxurious destinations where you can rough it in style.

If you are looking for a unique camping experience, without the hassle of setting up your tent then, here are a few destinations:

Treebones Resort, Big Sur, California

How about a camping experience with sushi, yoga, gorgeous scenery, and amazing sunset views? Pack your backs and reserve one of the 16 yurts at Treebones, located on California’s breathtaking Big Sur coast. Here you’ll have a queen-size bed and a private redwood deck with panoramic ocean views.  Aside from the coast and nature hikes, the resort offers numerous activities such as yoga, and massage, and don’t forget the outdoor sushi bar!  Also see my related post:  Perfect Weekend in Big Sur

Adirondack State Park, New York

This beautiful landscape is the perfect setting for camping of all kinds, but glamping adds a little extra touch to the experience and a lot more comfort. Adirondack State Park is just six hours from Manhattan. Here you’ll enjoy the outdoors in all its solitude.  Surrounded by nature, no crowds, and relaxation for hours. Count me in!

NY

Sagecliffe Hotel Resort and Spa

Looking for a little wine with your campsite? Camping in the heart of Washington State and the Columbia River Wine Country never tasted so good.  Check out the Sagecliffe Resort & Spa, and enjoy the untouched natural setting and panoramic cliff views that create an unforgettable getaway offering romantic sunsets, wine, food, and picturesque natural scenery. Don’t forget to book the couples massage!

  1. Stayed in a yurt with my Aunt in an Oregon State Park along the coast. One of our all time favorite memories! I would love to “yurt across the USA”!
