My Most Asked Non-Travel Question

I get a lot of questions about travel.

Here’s a few popular ones, just off the top of my head:

But there’s one question I get all the time that’s not travel related.

Do you need an assistant?

I joke around a lot about this (did you watch the video?!). In all seriousness, my shows really hinge upon the talented, dedicated people who produce the show and travel with me. From the sound guy to my stylist who keeps me looking put together, even if I’m jet lagged and running on two hours of sleep, you’re the reason I get to have the best job in the world. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Right now, I’m not looking for an assistant. However, I will let you know if I’m ever hiring. Promise.

I truly already have my dream job. As a travel television host, I get to see the world and discover all sort of new and interesting places. The best part? Sharing my discoveries with viewers. Let me make all the travel mistakes and tell you about them. That way, you can make wiser decisions when you’re on the road.

  1. My dream job would be just this. Being your assistant! If ever you are hiring I am qualified and would love a shot at that opportunity! Keep doing what you’re doing!

  2. Hello Samantha!

I have a passion for travel and try to get away as often as I can. As long as I can coordinate time off between my full & part time jobs. However, my part time job is working for an airline; therefore, I take advantage of that perk. At this point, however, the further destination I’ve been and am completely in love with is Italy. Love the culture, art, people and atmosphere. Can’t get enough. Greece is also on my bucket list—–some day.

    1. if you have time you can combine them, but, as reference, there were 20 of us and we used:
      https://theromanguy.com/category/italy-travel-blog/rome/
for setting up our week in Rome. They arranged private transport, dinner reservations at a restaurant ( foe TWENTY!) , tours, hotel near Pantheon.. Excellent. HIGHLY recommend.

About 90 minute drive from Rome to Civitavecchia were we started a 10 day Celebrity cruise to Naples, Pompeii, Amalfi coast, Athens, Greek Isles . Ship was excellent but 10 days was not enough time. Too rushed. Really just DROVE from ship thru Naples to Pompeii & Amalfi. Same for Athens – would have liked to spend more time there. Other lines had similar stops so maybe ports only allow x days per ship??.

      Enjoy.

  3. For 36 years I had my dream job…I was a high school English teacher. Now, in retirement, I would love to pursue my next dream job as a travel writer. As a single retired professional woman, I think my experiences traveling both domestically and internationally might be interesting and helpful to others planning to travel.

  4. My dream job is what you do,a lil diff, more on the lines of Anthony Bourdain, off the beaten path, things tourist don’t see,the underground culinary creations and the people around it,but now your assistant could be a dream job as well, except your married, lol and my crush would get me in trouble, hahaha keep it up dear, always a breathe of fresh air to me,but you know that..

  5. Although there are many things I would like to do and many places I would like to go, I already have my dream job – being a naturalist at a park and teaching people, primarily children, about nature.

  6. My dream job … Having my Resort Girl become as popular as your wonderful show. Finding myself solo again at 55, I was not going to give up living the travel and active life just because my retirement years were alone. I hope to inspire women to relax more and also reflect and recharge .. And stay in shape and live healthy as a senior!

  7. My Dad took me to see the Blue Angels at NAS Glynco, GA when I was seven. Then and there I knew I wanted to become a Navy pilot. And I did. Then I became an airline pilot, so I’ve had my two dream jobs. I’ll keep traveling forever, because I always want to see what’s beyond the horizon.

  8. I love Samantha Brown. Would be her assistant in a minute. She’s the best. You are the best, Sam.

  9. I would love to be your “LUGGAGE ASSISTANT”!!! I love your luggage line and if you need an assistant to test your luggage, help pick out designs and colors or just helping you schlep luggage to HSN – email me!!! Your luggage, accessories and packing cubes have revolutionized the way I travel. Would love to pass this knowledge on to others. Looking forward to hearing from you! 😉

P.S. 1st idea as your luggage assistant – please make matching or coordinating luggage tags to fit your luggage. I can’t find any that work, either the colors don’t match or they don’t fit your suitcases. How’s that for an idea! 😉

  10. My dream job is to share tips and tricks to traveling the world, via multi-media distribution. I’m working on a new slant – working toward that dream.
You are a great inspiration to me Sam. I’d love to share stories over a cocktail. )Geez, that sounds like a pick up line…it’s not. Just would love to meet you. )

  11. I was so happy to see your segment on Donegal. A couple of years ago my husband and I were hosted for an art event in Derry. Our host drove us to Donegal and up to Malin Head. We fell in love with it. Because of work we were only able to spend one night at a B&B in Malin Head, but that one night and day was our happy place. Wonderful meals, a night of local music (it was Traditional Tuesday) at Farren’s Pub. We heard children playing music, then the adults took over. I even heard two teenagers sing a rap song about the Troubles. I was stunned.
We hiked on the hills overlooking the sea. No tourist and it was July.

  12. Ah yes, but I’d be the kind of Assistant who stays behind to tend the boring stuff, or send you information for filler, or set up reaction scripts. But I draw the line on picking up your dry cleaning
