How to be prepared for your next flight

Getting ready for a flight can be the hardest part of your trip.

However, that doesn’t need to be the case. There are a few simple tips to ensure your day at the airport is as stress-free as possible. A few of my favorites?

  • Check in and print your boarding pass the night before, or save it on your phone. Not only does this help you organize your stuff, but lets the airline know you’re coming!
  • Charge all your devices the day before. Nothing worse than opening up your laptop to 3 percent battery!
  • Make the security line less painful with slip-on shoes and minimal jewelry. Skip the belt. If you need one, just put it on after security.
  • Keep your baggie of liquids near the top of your bag. No explanation needed!

  1. Even though I have a TSA Pre-check number, I still pack my liquids in the approved baggie because you NEVER know when there may be a security “breach” and the entire airport must be rechecked, whereupon every person is screened at a more intense level. (I have an acquaintance who retired from TSA , so have heard some stories of chaos.) I pack one extra change of clothes and one pair pjs in carry-on in case my checked bag is lost. I also pack snacks in my carry-on due to allergies to airline snacks. And a special hint for goodwill: I often take a small package or two of high quality chocolate as a gift for cabin crew; gifted upon boarding, it always gets me better service.

  2. I have two herniated disks in my back. I cant lift much but I also can have 10 small bags. Any suggestions please.
