A modern, beautiful and convenient hotel in Rome

There’s no place like Rome.

So much history, beautiful art everywhere, amazing food and wine. While I could spend all day exploring what remains of ancient Rome, at night I prefer something a little more modern. On my last trip, I stayed at a fantastic hotel in Rome.

Though located in the bustling historical center, Hotel Art resides on Via Margutta, one of Roma’s most picturesque streets. It’s a little quieter, and close to many beautiful antique shops– charming as can be, and a respite from the busy city streets while being close to Spanish Steps, Via Babuino and Via dei Condotti.

Once a chapel, the lobby features the original vaulted frescoed ceiling with a marble altar and stained glass windows. There’s 46 rooms spacious rooms, a sophisticated bar, as well as an onsite gym including a sauna, Turkish bath, and Swedish shower. Though let’s face it, when in Rome, I prefer to make my walking shoes pounding the cobblestone streets my gym.

  1. We recently returned From a 12 day family trip in Italy, which included stays in Venice, Florence and Rome. We loved our hotel in Rome, the Boscolo Exedra Roma. It was a little larger of a hotel, but it was beautiful and the staff was warm, attentive and helpful.

  2. Didn’t Gregory Peck’s character live on the Via Margutta in “Roman Holiday”? As a teenager that movie made me want to go to Rome and get my hair cut.

  3. Samantha I’d like to also suggest romeflats.com. They have a lovely flat that sleeps four with kitchen and wash machine located about 1000 yards from the Coliseum.

  4. We LOVED Rome when we went in September 2016. We stayed at the Hotel Artemide, a great location with a rooftop restaurant!!

  5. I went to Rome around 6 years ago,I truly hope I can go back someday, but we stayed at the – Hotel Claridge , and it was fabulous .. very large room with a balcony around the entire room; I sat out there early one morning having coffee- was incredible !! The only bad part was that it was not in the main part of Rome – was a bit away & had to take bus into the sites but well worth it !!

  6. We were in Rome in April 2016 and stayed at Al Colonnato di San Pietro. We stayed in a charming bedroom where it has a small cabinet that had a stove and sink in it. It was wonderful as it was more like having your own apartment. Rosa Maria, the owner, was very sweet and had it stocked with gluten free items for me to have. She helped us with tours and everything you could possible need. We were able to walk every where we wanted to go. We recommend her highly and hope to one day return and stay there again.

  7. We’ve been fortunate enough to visit Rome twice in the past 7 years. Both times we stayed at the Arena Guest House. It’s just a couple of blocks from the Colosseum in a quiet little neighborhood and a short walk away from the bus stop and metro station.

  8. We stayed at the Hotel Artemide on Via Nationale; a great location. This hotel offered upscale modern conveniences, a fantastic staff, wonderful breakfast choices and a lovely rooftop restaurant. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again!

  9. We stayed at the lovely Albergo del Senato, right next door to the Pantheon. Despite being on a busy piazza it was quiet, lovely and friendly. A big plus was its rooftop bar with expansive views of Rome. We loved sitting at one of their outdoor tables in the evening with a gelato or prosecco (or both!) watching the parade of entertainers, tourists, Romans, merchants going about their lives. This was all in the shadow of the magnificent Pantheon. Heaven.

  10. We stayed at the Le Meridien Visconti, near the Vatican. The hotel was great. The staff was outstanding.
