What a dream! I got to be a Radio City Rockette! However, the day got off to a tough start.
These long legged beauties perform 300 eye-high kicks per show. I couldn’t even get a kick above my waist. And learning 8 counts of an entire dance number was completely overwhelming. But when I put on one of their signature costumes from the Christmas Spectacular I felt transformed. The highlight of my day was when, standing in my costume in the lobby of Radio City Music Hall, a tour went by and everyone looked at me with huge eyes and smiles as if they were seeing the real deal. The height requirement to be a Rockette begins at 5’6″. I’m 5’3″ but was so elated that I felt my legs grow three inches that day!
