Discovering Montenegro
Today I’m dreaming of this magical place south of the Adriatic. I’m one of those travelers who like to relax one day and then head out for a hike or other outdoor adventure. This tiny country has sweeping vistas, sparkling beaches, pristine national parks, rugged peaks, canyons, crystal clear lakes and historic walled towns full of culture and old world charm. There’s the Mediterranean climate and luxurious Sveti Stefan on the Budva Riveria that draws you into the wistful daydream that you might bump into George Clooney any minute. After some exploring in the old walled cities, I’d end the day enjoying local seafood, a nice glass of wine (I’m dreaming ok?) and watching the stunning sunset offered by the backdrop of the islands and mountains.

Kotor has a tiny but very imformative naval history museum.
The main square has several outdoor restaurants good for an iced coffee, pastry & lunch.
Walk around the outer wall and look for the Lion of Venice- from when Kotor was part of the Venetian empire.
Look for the Church with separate baptistry. Baptistry dates from 1100’s and is still in use.
If you are lucky enough to enjoy a seaside cafe in Budva overlooking breathtaking Sveti Stefan, order a nice bottle of the local Vranac wine, a smooth red that I wish I could find in the States.
We will visit Kotor, Montenegro on our next RCI cruise in September 2013…looking forward to exploring this location and seven other “new” stops we have never been to …Love cruising!
